General Home Care

What is non-medical in-home care?
Non-medical in-home care is help with daily living, such as bathing, dressing, meals, getting around, and companionship, in your loved one's own home rather than a facility.
How quickly can care begin?
For private pay, we can usually begin care within 48 hours, or later if you'd like to meet your caregiver first. For care that may be covered, timing depends on the assessment and approval.
Will we meet the caregiver before care starts?
We hand-select the caregiver for each family. Private-pay families may also choose to meet candidates before care begins, and that choice is entirely yours.
What areas do you serve?
We serve DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Northern Cook counties, with local offices in Lombard, Aurora, Niles, and Elgin.

Payment & Insurance

What payment options are available?
Private pay and long-term care insurance. Eligible seniors enrolled in Medicaid may receive In-Home Services at no cost, based on eligibility and assessed need. See our
Paying for Care
page for full details.
Do you help with long-term care insurance claims?
Yes. We work with your insurance company and handle the claim paperwork on your behalf.
Is there a long-term contract?
No long-term contract is required. We'll help you find a starting schedule and adjust hours as needs change.

Carefully Selected Caregivers

How are caregivers screened?
Every caregiver completes a background check, TB testing, reference checks, and required training before their first visit with a family.
Are caregivers licensed, bonded, and insured?
European Service LLC is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), licensed and regulated by the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA), and bonded and insured for every placement.
What if we're not happy with a caregiver match?
We carefully match caregivers based on each client's needs and preferences. If a match isn't the right fit, our care coordinator will work promptly to find a more suitable caregiver.

After Hours, Emergencies & Changing Needs

Is someone available after hours?
Our offices are open Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Care is scheduled around your care plan, including evenings, weekends, and overnight. Once care begins, you'll have a number you can call any time, day or night.
What happens in a medical emergency?
In a medical emergency, caregivers are instructed to call 911 or activate the client's emergency alert system, remain with the client as appropriate, and promptly notify the designated family contact and our care team.
Can care increase if needs change?
Yes. Care plans can grow from a few hours a week to 24/7 Care & Support as needs change, without starting the intake process over.

Choosing In-Home Care

What is the difference between home care and home health care?
Home care, also called non-medical in-home care, is help with daily living: bathing, grooming, dressing, light housekeeping, medication reminders, meal preparation, and companionship. Home health care is medical care ordered by a doctor and delivered by nurses or therapists. European Service LLC provides non-medical home care, and our caregivers do not perform medical tasks.
How do I choose a home care agency?
Start with the basics: the agency should be licensed, bonded, and insured, and able to explain how it screens, trains, and supervises its caregivers. Ask how caregivers are matched to your loved one, what happens if a match is not right, and who you can reach with a question. At European Service LLC, every caregiver is carefully screened with background checks, TB testing, reference checks, and required training before meeting your family.
What questions should I ask a home care agency before hiring?
Ask whether the agency is licensed, bonded, and insured; how caregivers are screened and trained; whether you can meet the caregiver before care begins; what happens if a caregiver is unavailable or the match is not right; how hours, schedules, and billing work; and whether they can check if your loved one may qualify for covered care. A good agency will answer each of these plainly.
How much does in-home care cost?
Private-pay cost depends on the level of care, the number of hours, and the schedule. Personal Care and Companion Care are billed hourly, while 24/7 Care & Support is priced as daily or weekly packages. We provide an exact quote after a free in-home assessment, with no obligation. Eligible seniors enrolled in Medicaid may receive In-Home Services at no cost, based on eligibility and assessed need.

Languages & About Us

Do you have caregivers who speak Polish, Russian, or Ukrainian?
Yes. Our caregivers and office staff speak Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Spanish, Albanian, Macedonian, Serbian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, and Lithuanian. Tell us your loved one's preferred language when you request an assessment, and we will consider it when matching a caregiver.
Is European Service LLC licensed?
Yes. European Service LLC is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), licensed and regulated by the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA), and bonded and insured.
How long has European Service been in business?
Sergey Yakovlev and Natalia Horbach founded European Service LLC in 2018. The agency earned its IDPH license and welcomed its first client in April 2019. Together, the founders have more than 45 years of experience in home-care management. We serve families from four offices in Lombard, Aurora, Niles, and Elgin.
Is European Service LLC the same company as European Service at Home?
No. European Service LLC is a separate company. One of our founders, Sergey Yakovlev, also founded European Service at Home, Inc., which is where our name comes from, but European Service LLC has its own license, offices, caregivers, and care team.
